One of Johns Island’s newest neighborhoods, St. John’s Crossing is ideal for homebuyers looking for affordable new homes with easy commuting to downtown Charleston. Located off of River Road, the neighborhood is a half-mile from Maybank Highway and just 15 minutes from downtown Charleston.
The neighborhood has been taking shape since 2008 and offers both existing homes as well as homes under construction or still on the drawing board. Built by Catalyst Builders, a division of Meridian Builders, houses feature the same floor plans as the immensely popular Carol Oats Community in Mt. Pleasant, but less expensive because of lower land cost.
When built out, the community will offer 70 Lowcountry and cottage style homes with 9-foot ceilings, marble vanities, large 36-inch Birch cabinets and more. There are 21 different 3 and 4-bedroom floor plans with 1,200 to about 2,500 square feet of living space.
While the neighborhood has no amenities, James Island County Park is just five miles away and offers the Splash Zone Waterpark, miles of trails for hiking and biking, kayak rentals, the state’s largest outdoor climbing wall, volleyball court, grilling area, dog park and more.
Less than four miles away is the Charleston Municipal Golf Course. Neighborhood children attend Angel Oak Elementary, Haut Gap Middle, and St. Johns High School.
