Developed by the same visionary that transformed Hilton Head Island from a sparsely populated backwater into one of the world’s most prestigious resort and residential communities, Wild Dunes Resort began its history in 1972 as the Isle of Palms Beach and Racquet Club. Since then, the resort on the northeastern end of the Isle of Palms has distinguished itself by offering its own award-winning blend of golf, tennis and service as well as some of the most upscale properties Charleston real estate offers.
Developed by Charles Fraser and his Sea Pines Company, Wild Dunes is home to two of the first golf courses designed by legendary golf course architect Tom Fazio after striking out on his on in 1972. Ranking as one of Fazio’s favorites of the more than 120 he has designed, the resort’s Links Course incorporates large sand dunes and rolling fairways with a finishing hole overlooking the ocean. Meanwhile, the resort’s Harbor Course is one of America’s most scenic, featuring a number of holes along the Intracoastal Waterway, including two that require shots over the Waterway. Together the two courses have made Wild Dunes one of the premier golfing destinations in the Eastern U.S.
The resort is also one of the country’s top tennis destinations as well, making Tennis Magazine’s list of the country’s top 10 tennis resorts nine years in a row. The resort’s tennis complex offers 17 Har-Tru courts with five lighted for night play. A comprehensive tennis program offers tennis instruction and activities for all ages and skill levels.
Additionally, the resort offers a variety of award-winning restaurants, outstanding lounges in which to relax and the full service Sand & Sea Salon with a variety of wellness programs, fitness training and sports training. Other recreational activities at the resort include kayaking, fishing, parasailing, bicycling, and eco-tours. Everything is built to blend with the wild and natural surroundings.
Real estate offered at the resort ranges from the low $600s for a 3-bedroom, 3-bath 1,500-square-foot condominium to deep-water and oceanfront estates in excess of $3 million. A variety of housing options and locations are available including golf course homes, villas, and condos - as well as marsh front, deep-water and oceanfront condos and homesites.
