It’s easy to see downtown Charleston from one of James Island’s most popular areas, and it’s quick and easy to get there from the Clearview neighborhood as well. Less than 7 miles from downtown – and with no stoplights – it’s just nine miles to the beach.
With older homes built in the 60s, 70s and 80s, this established community features big lots with large oak trees. Brick ranchers make up most of the inventory here, although there are some houses with vinyl or Hardiplank siding. Home prices start in the low $200s and range to $2 million or more for homes located on Charleston Harbor with views of The Battery and Ravenel Bridge.
Neighborhood children attend Stiles Elementary School, the top rated school on the island, Fort Johnson Middle School and James Island Charter High School, an internationally accredited school that carries an excellent rating. Within walking distance, Sunrise Park is located on the harbor and offers a beach area, picnic area and fishing dock.
Less than two miles away, the Bayview Soccer Complex has nine soccer fields, a softball field and baseball field. Also less than two miles, the James Island Recreation Complex has a number of athletic fields, aerobic and yoga rooms, outdoor pool, basketball courts, batting cages, playgrounds and more.
