Chances are you won’t find the fossilized remains of a megalodon, a prehistoric shark that measured up to 67 feet long on the banks of the Wando River. And unless you’re highly motivated, you’ll likely not find remnants of large shell rings Native Americans used 3,000 to 4,000 years ago for ceremonial fires. But in a community appropriately named Rivertowne with three community docks on the river, you’ll have the perfect base to go looking for them if you want.
Known collectively as Rivertowne, this Mount Pleasant community is actually two adjacent neighborhoods, Rivertowne on the Wando and The Rivertowne Country Club, each with its own architectural styles and amenities.
In addition to the community docks, Rivertowne on the Wando offers a community center with swimming pool, children’s pool, playground, tennis courts and more in a neighborhood of traditional Lowcountry style single-family homes. With 438 homes planned, the neighborhood offers both existing and new construction. Home prices range from the low $300s and can approach $2 million. Lots are available from the low $100s, although deep-water and river lots are considerably more.
More of a golf-oriented community, Rivertowne Country Club in general offers larger homes and a greater variety of styles. The Country Club clubhouse has another swimming pool, tennis courts, dining and more. There’s also Arnold Palmer’s first course in the Charleston area, a scenic and challenging course with spectacular views of Horlbeck Creek. The course features five sets of tees for players of every skill level as well as a driving range, putting green, pro shop and PGA teaching professionals. It’s received a 4.5 Star rating from Golf Digest and been selected as one of the top courses in the state by various groups and publications. Single-family homes here range from around $400K to more than $1 million, with lots ranging from the low $100s to $650K and more.
Rivertowne is just 25 minutes from downtown Charleston and just minutes away from the outstanding beaches at Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island. This is another great community for those looking at a luxury, waterfront, or golf course home. Call us for more information or to set an appointment to tour the available homes.
